Psalm 5:1-6

Give ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my meditation . Give heed to the voice of my cry My King and my God. For to You I pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning O Lord In the morning I will direct it to You AND I will look up. For you are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You. The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

This is a cry from David to God. He is desperately wanting God to hear his pleas. It states that the prayer is sent straight to God. Meditation does not mean chanting but can mean the inner motives of the heart that are not spoken. The verses speak of 'looking up'. This could mean looking up towards heaven to where God abides or it could mean in waiting for the answer to the prayer. David states that evilness will not be tolerated by God. Many sins are listed in this passage about evil.

These verses touch me in that David is not begging for God to answer the prayers or giving ultimatums or making deals with God. All he asks is that God give ears to his words. To consdier the request and David will accept the answers. I feel that this is humbleness at its best. To ask only that God hear the prayer.
