Psalm 10: 1-7
Why do You stand afar off, O Lord? Why do You hide in times of trouble? The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; Let them be caught in the plots which they have devised. For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire. He blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord. The wicked in his proud countencance does not seek God; God is in none of his thought. His ways are always prospering; Your judgments are far above, out of his sight; As for all his enemies, he sneers at them. He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved; I shall never be in adversity. His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression; Under his tongue is trouble and iniquity.
Psalm 10 is written as an acostic poem. This is a psalm about triumph over evil. The first verse shows us that the writer thinks that God has become distant with him. The passage continues with thoughts about the wicked of the world. A wicked person boasts about his desires and having them. God is not in anything that he does.
I have felt that God has abandoned me many times in my life. This past year has been really difficult with school. I felt that God was standing back and letting the lightning bolts hit over and over. I know that is NOT how God operates. My head knows that. My heart sometimes forgets. I pray that I am not considered wicked just because I do not attend church as I should these days.
