Psalm 16: 1-6

Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. O My soul, you have said to the Lord, You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You. As for the saints who are on the earth, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take up their names on my lips. O Lord You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot, the lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.

Psalm 16 is about the hope of the faithful of God and the coming Messiah's eventual victory. "Preserve me" is a reference to save one from death. This gist of this passage is that without the Lord we are nothing. Our goodness rests in God. It says that the ungodly will have their sorrows multiplied and will suffer. This passage states that God is our inheritance or our future.

This relates to me in that I am trying to rededicate myself to God. I want to do more and be more as a child of Christ. I want to feel that I deserve His inheritance. I trust in Him to save me.
