Top 10 Hymns

1. A Mighty Fortress Is Our God Written by Martin Luther between 1527 and 1529, this hymn is based on  Psalm 46 . This Psalm captures the attributes of a God, who is a refuge of His people in times of adversity. It calls to attention the wonderful and mighty deeds of the Lord in defending His people. Written in the backdrop of the Reformation, this hymn provided a great source of strength and hope to the people who were standing up for their faith. No wonder this hymn has been called the “Battle Hymn of the Reformation.” Psalm 46  is home to the well-known verse,  “Be still, and know that I am God;”  ( Psalm 46:10 ) which invites us to let go of all our self, inhibitions, and fears, and remain in Him. This is beautifully captured in Luther’s lyrics. Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing, Were not the right man on our side, The man of God's own choosing. 2. Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing This hymn was written

Prayer for the grief-stricken at Christmas

Image
If you are consumed by grief this Christmas, you are not alone. Can we just take a moment to pray? Lord Jesus, I am so overwhelmed. My heart is heavy, burdened. The losses this year are crushing me, overcoming my peace and joy. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.  Psalm 34:18 I know you tell us you are close to the brokenhearted, but I don’t feel you. I feel lost, hopeless, abandoned. My spirit is crushed, but I don’t feel as if you are rescuing me. I need you. I need you to draw me close. I need you to lift my spirit, to rescue me. I need you to take my grief and give me a spirit of joy. In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.  1 Peter 5:10 I know this is a season, a season that has a beginning and an end. But right now it feels like it will neve

A Cappella ‘Mary Did You Know?’ From Pentatonix  - Christian Music Videos theremix   417278 views   4 years ago There’s no doubt that ‘Mary Did You Know’ is one of the most popular modern Christmas songs. Today, the talented a cappella group, Pentatonix, is performing this powerful Christmas hymn.  ‘Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?  Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?  Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?  When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God’  It took over 7 years for Mark Lowry, the songwriter, to perfect the lyrics to this song. The idea came to Lowry when he was writing a Christmas program for Jerry Falwell and he started thinking about what he would ask Mary if she was sitting right in front of him. He wondered how she must have felt when the angel told her she would birth a child of God. Then, he put together the questions that eventually became the lyri

RESOUND Trio Performs 'Carol Of The Bells'  - Inspirational Videos godtube-christmas   166 views   a day ago   source:  Official Resound ‘Carol Of The Bells’ is a classic Christmas song that we all know and love. Today, the talented trio of RESOUND is putting their own spin on this carol and it’s absolutely incredible.  ‘Christmas is here,  Bringing good cheer,  To young and old,  Meek and the bold.’  ‘Carol Of The Bells’ was written in 1914 by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych. A few years later, Peter J. Wilhousky came up with the lyrics that we still sing today. When Christmas came around this year, RESOUND knew they wanted to spread holiday cheer through song. So, they came up with this beautiful arrangement and it has me in complete awe. It’s so hard not sing along when they belt out the famous words:  ‘Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas,  Merry Christmas  Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas,  Merry Christmas’

A capella group Pentatonix has released another great single “What Christmas Means To Me” from their holiday album “Christmas Is Here!”.
