Psalm 11: 1-7

In the Lord I put my trust; How can you say to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? For Look! The wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow on the string, that they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? The Lord is in His holy temple, The Lord's throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. The Lord tests the righteous, but the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind shall be the portion of their cup. For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.

David is at a point where he would like nothing more than to flee from his enemies. It is impossible. It is a test of patience and faith when the wicked seem to be ahead in the game. It is David's thought that the Lord is waiting. Waiting for the sign of who will turn to Him and be loyal. The 'cup' refers to their destiny. The passage states that the wicked's destiny is fire and brimstone (hell). The last verse says that the Lord will behold the upright---this would be the reward of face to face fellowship in Heaven with God.

I really like these verses. Everyone has had circumstances where they would like to run from their problems. Yes, it is hard to see the ungodly have no problems or issues that I face. It seems unfair. Loyalty to God is something I take for granted that He knows. Am I living a loyal life to Christ? Not always. It is a failure for me. The goal of this life is to have eternal fellowship with GOD.
