Psalm 16: 7-11

I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. For You will not leave my soul in Sheol. Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

This passage continues in the message of the Messiah. David is praising God for helping him in times of need. He states that he, David, will not be swayed from his faith in the Lord. The mention of Sheol, the place of the dead, is mentioned. It states that the fleshly body rests in hope and will not be left behind in that place of the dead. This speaks of eternal life. The term 'Your Holy One' refers to Jesus. The statement that God will show the path of life is important in this psalm. Following this path will bring joy and pleasure.

It feels great to know that we have hope in eternal life and eternity in Heaven. God will show us the path that we need to take in our everyday lives that will bring that fullness of joy.
