Psalm 21: 5-13
His glory is great in Your salvation; Honor and majesty you have placed upon him. For You have made him most blessed forever; You have made him exceedingly glad with Your presence. For the king trusts in the Lord, And through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved. Your hand will find all Your enemies; Your right hand will find those who hate You. You shall make them as fiery oven in the time of Your anger; The Lord shall swallow them up in His wrath, and the fire shall devour them. Their offspring You shall destroy from the earth, and their descendants from among the sons of men. For they intended evil against You;They devised a plot which they are not able to perform. Therefore You will make them turn their back; You will make ready Your arrows on Your string toward their faces. Be exalted, O Lord in Your own strength! We will sing and praise Your power.
This passage is a praise to God for His salvation. It refers to the sinners receiving a fiery final judgment and uses the term 'Most High' for God. One of the worst things that could happen in the Middle Eastern culture was having no heirs. It says that all offspring would be destroyed. This would leave no legacy behind and a great shame.
This psalm reminds me that God is to be praised daily for my salvation. It is a wonderful thing to be saved from Hell. Knowing that I will be in heaven with God is reassurance of my faith in Him. Sometimes it seems that the evil of this world is stronger than God, but I must keep believing that He is in control and that nothing can harm me. I always say I am afraid of death. I don't think that is really accurate. I think I am afraid of leaving Janessa and the family. The fear of the unknown.
