The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, and announced the separation of the thirteen American colonies from Great Britain. With this, a new nation was formed—the United States of America. History verifies Thomas Jefferson as the composer of the original draft. Once completed, Jefferson submitted his draft to Benjamin Franklin and John Adams for their changes. Eventually, it made its final destination to Congress where it was amended for the last time. Today, we see in its detailed wording why Congress was declaring independence from Great Britain. This past weekend my sermon in Proverbs focused on what Solomon has to say about marriage . In talking to husbands and wives about marriage, I found myself spending some time in Proverbs 31 . I walked into this passage of Scripture with a little bit of trepidation because over the years I have seen how many women find this passage to be overwhelming and intimidating. What Do the Attributes of God Mean? The attributes of God are specific aspects you learn from the Bible about the character of God, who he is, and how he acts. When you study God’s attributes, you are attempting to wrap your mind around all God is, yet God is beyond human understanding. Whew! These are concepts you won’t fully understand in this lifetime. That’s okay. Part of growing in faith is understanding that God, his works, and his ways are beyond you, yet trusting that God has a plan for your life.
