Psalm 22: 6--11
But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people. All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake their head saying, "He trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him since He delights in Him!". But You are He who took Me out of the womb; You made Me trust while on My mother's breasts. I was cast upon You from birth. From my mother's womb You have been My God. Be not far from Me, For trouble is near; For there is none to help.
This continues the passage from which Jesus recited from the cross. David is comparing himself to a worm, one that crawls on the ground and is not worthy of God's love and compassion. He says he is not a man. He, as King, is aware of what the people of Israel are thinking about him as their ruler. They have taken no responsibility for themselves and left everything to David. It seem they blame him for their troubles. They mock his belief. David states that he has been a believer since before he was born and was raised as a child of God. David is calling out to God because he knows troubles are near with the enemies and with the unbelief of his people.
This sounds so much like people today. "You brought this on us--you deal with it". It is always like this in the Bible. The Hebrew people stray and God brings them back. They stray and God brings them back. I like the fact that David refers to his upbringing as a believer in God. As a child, he believed. We always cry out to God in times of trouble. He is there to aid us if we only trust in Him.
