Scripture to focus on as you pray + talk with your kids: Psalm 121 – for when we feel helpless. 1 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? 2 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. 8 The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore. Matthew 24 – for when we wonder if the end is coming (There’s a lot of talk about this right now, but spoiler: Jesus tells us we will not know , but we are to be faithful as we wait for Him to return.) 36 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. 37 For as were ...

There are times when the world seems so chaotic that we don’t know how to pray or make sense of it all. God’s Word reminds us, “the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” (Romans 8:26 ESV). God is still in control of everything. “Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power. He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings” (Daniel 2:20–21 NLT). God is still at work in the world. “Je...

Step 1 Read and reflect on the Scripture. In what ways does this Scripture apply to you and your life right now? For the purpose of this article we will focus on Proverbs 3:5-6 as our example. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths. Proverbs 3:5-6, (HCSB) Step 2 Pick out words in the Scripture that stand out to you. Let’s call them key words . For example: “trust,” “Lord,” “all,” and “heart.” These words might be ones that stand out to you more than others. Step 3 Think about how you visualize these words. For example, with the word “Lord,” you can use very strong lettering. While with the word “heart,” you might use cursive writing and add a heart around it. It’s really up to you—be creative! Step 4 Sketch out your drawing with a pencil. You can also, of course, use a pen if you’re comfortable doing so. TIP: Y...

What Is The SOAP Method Of Bible Study? SOAP is an acronym to help you remember… S – SCRIPTURE Since the Bible is God’s Word, studying it is a way to know God better. The Bible is filled with information that can help guide us with our walk with God, but it is also misinterpreted if not studied and taken within context properly. It is important to read carefully what the scripture is trying to teach us. Many times, we often see a scripture and think of it by its direct meaning, not fully understanding the real message that it portrays. You can read different versions to make sure you have understood the scriptures. NIV is what most people use for standard english. What is your favorite Bible translation? “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”1 John 4:1 NIV O – OBSERVATION Once we are finished reading over the scripture, it is important to understand the mea...
